It’s no secret that food is really, really important to us. And why shouldn’t it be? It’s one of the great pleasures in life and we’re so lucky and privileged that we are able to eat for enjoyment, instead of bare-bones necessity.
In this world there are so many people who struggle to feed themselves and their families, in circumstances so dire we can’t even imagine. As individuals we try to do what we can to help but with Delicious on a Dime we hope to do more.
If you spend any time on this site you’ll notice ads displayed in the margins of the pages. You might also come across links to items sold at places like Amazon. We include these links when we recommend products we love. If you end up clicking through and buying the items (or anything else) we receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Although we hope these actions will reduce the cost of running this blog, we also hope there will be a time when the money we make from the blog will be more than the money we spend on it.
If this ever happens, we pledge to donate 10% of our profit to charities that support food security. In order to reach people both near and far we’ve decided to donate to one charity in our local community, one in Nova Scotia, one national Canadian charity and one international charity (see which ones below).
It’s not much, but it’s a start. Because there are far too many people for whom ‘delicious on a dime’ isn’t even an option.
